Using PayPal
What is PayPal?
Midland Vac uses PayPal for online transactions. PayPal is an account-based system that lets anyone with an e-mail address securely send and receive online payments using their credit card or bank account. PayPal is a separate organisation from Midland Vac.
Is it Secure?
Yes. PayPal uses SSL technology to keep your information safe.
In addition, when you send a payment using PayPal, Midland Vac DOES NOT RECEIVE OR SEE ANY SENSITIVE FINANCIAL INFORMATION LIKE YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD DETAILS NOR ANY BANK DETAILS. This way, you don’t have to worry about paying people you do not know.
PayPal is a separate organisation which processes credit card payments on behalf of websites such as Midland Vac. Paypal is owned by US online auction company eBay and has over 20 million registered users in 38 different countries.

Payments for products purchased on the Midland Vac website can be received in GB Pounds, Euros, US Dollars and Canadian Dollars
Payment is processed via a separate secure link, opened in a new browser window, that connects directly to PayPal. Midland Vac does not have access to your card details during this process.
Setting up your account:
Setting up your account the first time is comparable to making other online credit card payments. Thereafter you should find that your PayPal account is very simple to use.
Before you go through the payment process you will need:
- Your credit card details (PayPal now also accepts some debit cards—see their site)
- An e-mail address for confirming payment details.
- A password for your new PayPal account of a minimum of 8 characters (case-sensitive)
If you are a seasoned internet user you should be able to navigate your way through this process easily.
How payment works:
If you would like to buy several items on the website click on the “add to cart” buttons. This will open the PayPal website (customised for Midland Vac) in a new browser window detailing the products you have chosen. You will see that this is a secure site as the yellow padlock is displayed along the bottom of your screen (if using Internet Explorer).
When you have finished, click on the “checkout” button in this PayPal window.
A Payment Details page will open displaying the amount payable to Midland Vac. Begin by clicking the question about your location (US or outside US). Complete the credit card and other details and continue to the confirmation page where details that you have just entered are shown and confirmation of the amount to be debited to your credit card for the purchases you have made.
Please note that the first time you use PayPal they will charge you a membership fee of US$1.95. Debit cards incur a different charge which should be advertised on the PayPal site. These fees are refundable subject to certain conditions also as advertised by PayPal and you should only incur the fee on the first time of use.
As soon as payment has been cleared by PayPal you will receive notification from PayPal detailing your purchases. At the same time Midland Vac will receive email notification of your purchase and will arrange for the goods to be delivered. Please see our terms and conditions.
You will also receive a separate email (more details below) about entering your Paypal membership number if you wish to remove the initial credit limit, notified to you by PayPal, on your Paypal account.
Completing your Paypal Membership:
At a later date you can complete your Paypal membership. When you get your next credit card statement, look for the 4 digit security member number next to the $1.95 (or its equivalent) labelled PayPal member item. You can then go back to the e-mail that was sent to you at the time you paid for your product. Click on the link in that email to enter your membership number on your Paypal account to lift the credit limit.
Completing your Paypal membership is independent from buying products from Midland Vac.
